Summer Reading Challenge
We just finished creating our screen names and logins for the Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge 2010. Mrs. Hill has a copy of all screen names and passwords should you forget--Our class email address will be sent home by the end of the school year. Our login and passwords for accessing this blog will be sent home, too.
My hope is that we'll all meet the challenge this summer and blog about it weekly. I'd also enjoy meeting everyone (that is able to join us) for a summer treat half way through our goal (check back for a date, place, and time) and then again at the end of the summer to celebrate our class goal. Our goal is to read 1,000 hours as a class for June and 1,000 hours for July as a whole class, too. That would be a total of 2,000 hours of gain knowledge to better prepare everyone for 5th grade!
Travel around the world this summer right in your own bedroom or backyard! Reading a variety of materials (online newspapers for kids, online magazines for kids, books, magazine, cook books, game instructions, etc) and logging those minutes at http://www.scholastic.com/summer at the end of each day, we'll be one step closer to breaking the world reading record and a better reader, too!
